An open appeal on behalf of thousands of home businesses across India
India Post has always been the backbone of small businesses, handmade sellers, homepreneurs, and rural entrepreneurs. It has been the most affordable and trusted shipping option for those who cannot negotiate bulk rates with private courier companies.
With the recent revision in postal parcel tariffs, shipping costs have increased significantly for many shipments. For a home business that sends dozens of parcels every month, even a ₹20–₹50 increase per parcel can wipe out already thin profit margins.
Large e-commerce companies may absorb these costs. Small businesses cannot.
Many of us sell handmade products, books, clothing, crafts, stationery, and small household items. We compete on affordability, and every extra rupee in shipping makes it harder to survive.
We respectfully request the Department of Posts and the Government of India to:
* Reconsider the revised parcel tariffs for retail customers.
* Introduce concessional rates for home businesses and MSMEs.
* Provide affordable shipping slabs for low-volume sellers.
* Support the entrepreneurs who create employment from their homes.
If we truly want to promote **"Vocal for Local"**, **"Make in India"**, and women-led entrepreneurship, affordable logistics must remain a priority.
If you're a home business owner affected by these changes, please share your experience in the comments and help bring attention to this issue.
