Christian Dior : The House of was established on 16 December 1946 at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Dior was financially backed by wealthy businessman Marcel Boussac. Boussac proposed Dior to revive an old brand with his creativity, but Dior refused & told Boussac that we is willing to fresh start under his own name.
Somehow Dior managed to make Boussac agree on this & started the company became a vanity project for Boussac.
New Look : On 12th February 1947, Dior launched his first collection for Spring-Summer. The new collection went down in fashion history as the "New Look". This was a huge success for Dior & Dior gained a number of prominent clients from Hollywood.
Breaking Point : in 1980, Dior released the men's fragrance 'Jules'. After the Boussac Group went into bankruptcy in 1981, Bernard Arnault and his investment group purchased it for "One Symbolic Franc". Arnault was obsessed with Dior ever since he was a kid. In 1988, Arnault's Christian Dior took 32% equity stake into LVMH through it's subsidiary Jacques Rober.
