A proposed extension of the Namo Bharat (RRTS) network aims to connect Meerut to Haridwar and Rishikesh, potentially reducing travel time from Delhi and Ghaziabad to Rishikesh to around 2.25–3 hours. While the Delhi–Meerut corridor is functional, the extension to Uttarakhand is currently in the planning/proposal phase, aiming to boost tourism and economic growth
Key Details of the Proposed Expansion:
Route: The corridor is expected to extend northwards from Modipuram (Meerut) along NH-58.
Key Stations: Likely to include Daurala-Sakauti, Khatauli, Purkazi, Roorkee, Jwalapur (Haridwar), and Rishikesh.
Create a fast, efficient, and reliable public transport link between the NCR and Uttarakhand, promoting regional development and reducing road traffic
