Do you know where the Night Higher Secondary School in Guwahati is?📍
More importantly... Do you know who studies there, or what the timings are?
While most of the city winds down, this incredible institution opens its doors in the evening (running from late afternoon to 9:00 PM) to give a second chance at education to those who work hard all day. The students here are inspiring individuals—day laborers, domestic helpers, office assistants, and young adults who work daytime jobs to support their families but refuse to give up on their dreams of completing their education. 📚✨
Yesterday, I had the absolute privilege of attending this school as a guest for a special hands-on workshop on making recyclable paper from waste paper! ♻️📰
It was an incredible evening of learning, sustainability, and green innovation. We rolled up our sleeves alongside the brilliant students, turning old scrap paper and newspapers into beautiful, reusable sheets.
This impactful initiative was sponsored by ASTEC (Assam Science Technology and Environment Council), Science & Technology Department, Govt. of Assam, alongside the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Govt. of India. The entire program was proudly supported and monitored by the team at RWUAA (Rural Women Upliftment Association of Assam), working together to bring eco-friendly life skills straight to the grassroots level. 🌿🤝
Seeing the sheer dedication of these students, balancing exhausting work schedules with an eagerness to learn sustainable practices, was deeply moving. A huge thank you to the school administration, the organizers, and the inspiring students for such a warm welcome!
