Awareness & Social Service Drive Held at Kime Pakka Itanagar (Ward No.9)

Itanagar April 11, 2026:
An awareness-cum-social service programme was successfully conducted at Kime Pakka on Saturday, spearheaded by Ward Member Mrs. Yapi Maying of Kime Pakka, Tagin Colony, and Nyobia Colony. The initiative was organised in collaboration with the Youth Association of Ward No. 9 (YAWN-9) under the guidance of Corporator Shri Pakyum Tagung.

The programme was attended by the Corporator along with ward committee members from various areas under Ward No. 9, reflecting strong institutional support for community-driven initiatives.

A key highlight of the event was the active participation of local residents, who voluntarily engaged in cleanliness activities across their respective surroundings. The drive emphasized the importance of public awareness, hygiene, and collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

🚨 Public Hearing Controversy in Upper Subansiri 🚨
A strong objection has been raised by ATPJASU regarding the recently held public hearing on the Subansiri Upper Hydro Electric Project (SUHEP) at Daporijo. The union alleged that key provisions of EIA 2006 were ignored, especially proper public consultation.

Project-affected villagers and genuine stakeholders were reportedly denied entry, while police barricades and threats created an atmosphere of fear and suppression. The union also claimed that many outsiders, posing as affected people, dominated the hearing for vested interests.

Further, the detention of a union leader without clear reason has raised serious concerns. ATPJASU is now demanding a fresh and fair public hearing, ensuring rightful participation of all affected locals.
