A monitor reportedly exploded inside a patient room at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital ( ). Initial reports claimed that a patient, identified by the surname Tirkey, died in the incident. However, the GMCH superintendent denied the claim, stating that the patient had died before the monitor explosion.

The incident has raised concerns about safety within the hospital premises.

Four youths drowned in the Brahmaputra River at Balijan in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on September 19 after being swept away by a strong current while bathing.

The deceased were identified as Satyajit Ghosh, Abhijit Deb, Surajit Dey and Babu Ghosh, all residents of Chabua. Search and rescue operations were launched following the incident.
