On 12 March 2026, Andaman & Nicobar Police has successfully completed the phase-wise disposal of 6003.55 kg of Methamphetamine, estimated to be worth approx. ₹36,000 crore in the international market. The destruction was carried out under the supervision of the High-Level Drug Disposal Committee under the leadership of Shri Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands. This marks a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking in the Islands.

A teacher of , lost her life on Holi , after being swept away by heavy waves at a beach near the JNV campus at @

The deceased has been identified as Ms. Renuka, who was serving as a teacher at JNV. According to sources, five teachers along with the son of the school principal had gone to the beach during the morning hours. While they were at the shore, three of them were suddenly swept away by strong waves.

Local residents present nearby managed to rescue two of the individuals. However, Ms. Renuka was carried further into the sea by powerful waves and water currents. This beach have strong currents as per locals.

Anti-hijack drill conducted by Andaman and Nicobar Command at Sri Vijaya Puram Airport on 26 Feb 26. Exercise coordinated by INS Utkrosh validated contingency mechanisms and response protocols for hijack scenarios.

Effective coordination among CISF, NSG and AAI along with State agencies reinforced SOPs and operational readiness in line with BCAS guidelines. 🇮🇳

Well done 👏 Great work.

Prompt and timely action by 3 DRMs of Forest Dept and one PMF staff who were on their way to Interview Island helped to save human lives. These people rushed near the incident site and all the 5 passengers including a 5 months baby got rescued and brought to Mayabunder Harbour from where they were taken to District govt hospital for medical aid.

In a swift and coordinated operation,
at , alongwith , Forest officials & local fishermen, rescued all 7 personnel from Pawan Hans helicopter which crashed at sea AM 24 feb 26, just before landing at Mayabander Harbour in North Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Apart from 02 crew, the passengers including 03 women and a 5-month-old infant were safely evacuated, medically examined and shifted to Government Hospital Mayabandar reaffirming & unwavering commitment towards safety of life and property at sea.

On February 24, 2026, a helicopter 🚁 en route from Port Blair to Mayabunder experienced an emergency landing/crashed into the sea near the area in Middle Andaman.

No casualties reported! All 6 passengers including the pilot are safe. More details awaited.

This includes one child among the passengers. Additionally, there was one pilot (or crew), bringing the total occupants to 6. All were reported safe with only minor injuries, and they were assisted by local fishermen and police before being taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

WE ALL KNOW HOW BAD IS THE CONDITION OF THESE HELICOPTERS AT OUR ISLAND.
