As complex as it sounds, it's rather simple to understand. Auditory stimuli evoke powerful emotional responses. And emotions are what make things interesting, enjoyable, and memorable. Basically, music makes you feel good.
So that's why it's utterly effective when you use trending music and sound effects. Here are some handful ways to find trending audio -

Sensory Overwhelm occurs when your brain is getting more input than it can essentially process and work through.

The Most Successful Advertising Campaigns of all time in history were by Volkswagen in the 1960s and the 1970s. (voted by the Advertising Age magazine)

This campaign took a boring, ugly, unknown product and made it one of the most talked about popular products in history. The VW Beetle.

Despite focusing on a rather mediocre product, these ad campaigns were said to be groundbreaking and smart. The agency responsible for such a stellar performance was Doyle Dane Bernbach ( DDB ) which was conceived by Helmut Krone (art director) and Julian Koenig (copywriter).

But, why were these ads so successful? We learn this answer by understanding the environment in which these ads were created. In the early 1960s, the automobile industry in the US was dominated by the Big Three: General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler.

The cars that the Big Three built were long, and heavy, had lots of chrome, and long fins, and were 4-door sedans. Interestingly, these cars were gas guzzlers ( had 15 miles to the gallon on average ), were hard on tires, difficult to park due to their size, and burnt a lot of engine oil. All of their ad copies were full pages and full color.

Into this competitive landscape arrived the VW car. Contrastingly it had 2 doors, not 4, it wasn't long, it had no fins, no chrome, etc. The ads were simple, black & white, and often featured only one photo of the car. This was backed up with a clever, funny ad copy with short sentences.

Doing something different and thinking out of the box helped VW to kick its sales out of the park. Copywriting is an art everyone must give a shot at. It's the heart of an ad. It can win the customer if your ad creative fails.

As an E-commerce Marketing Agency owner I've seen brands that don't "trust" paid ads or even digital marketing as a whole. All these brands have one thing in common. No Brand Concept!

The concept of each product you come out with should be well thought about. There should be an identity you're going after. It makes that foundation stronger than ever.

If you find yourself struggling to trust paid ads or have failed to see results implementing them, take one step back and really focus on your brand concept. It will help you jump 2 steps forward with better momentum. I'm not saying you don't need a good marketing strategy or a plan of attack and just rely on the brand concept alone, that's an absolute necessity as well.

Marketing is like watering a plant. But, there has to be a seed in order to grow the plant in the first place. Most brands don't even have that seed or a good quality seed that even has potential to grow into a beautiful plant. Start working on the seed right now!
