Senior Sikh Leader Indumeet Singh Urges Kashmiri Sikh Community to Wake Up and Protect Its Interests

JAMMU,10 June : Senior Sikh leader Indumeet Singh has urged the Kashmiri Sikh community to seriously reflect on the benefits received from community-owned commercial properties and institutions over the years.

Speaking on issues concerning the community, Indumeet Singh questioned what tangible benefits Kashmiri Sikhs have received from the Nirman Complex and the former Aircel Building, now known as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Complex, located at Baghat, Srinagar and managed by DGPC Budgam.

He stated that despite these valuable assets, members of the Kashmiri Sikh community have largely been limited to a few security guard positions, while most commercial establishments and business opportunities have been occupied by people from other communities. He expressed concern that community assets should create broader employment, business, and economic opportunities for local Kashmiri Sikhs.

Indumeet Singh said that the community needs to carefully assess whether its interests are being adequately represented and protected. He emphasized that community institutions and properties should work for the welfare and upliftment of Kashmiri Sikhs and create meaningful opportunities for future generations.

He appealed to community members to remain aware, united, and actively participate in matters affecting Sikh institutions and community assets. According to him, responsible leadership, transparency, and accountability are essential to ensure that community resources benefit the community as intended.

Indumeet Singh concluded by urging the Sikh community to think about its future and make informed decisions regarding its representation and leadership.
