Patchwork work is progressing smoothly on the Sonpah–Arizal stretch of the proposed Magam–Doodhpathri NH701A.

Although the road has now been taken over by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the maintenance and patchwork for the current year is still being carried out by PMGSY under the 5-year Defect Liability Period (DLP).

NH701A Update:

The independent agency engaged for the NH701A project is currently conducting alignment surveys for the proposed Magam–Beerwah–Doodhpathri–Yousmarg–Shopian stretch. Multiple alignment options are expected to be submitted before the competent authority in the coming weeks for evaluation.

No alignment has been finalised yet. The existing stretch currently taken over by BRO under Project Beacon 52 RCC is only being maintained at present.

This is final communication to traders at Ariphanthan Chowk (Beerwah–Magam Road) regarding repeated littering in the area.

Despite multiple clean-up drives where the accumulated trash was cleared, some waste continues to be found outside shops. Traders are hereby informed that any further violation will be dealt with strictly under the law.

Business activities are allowed, but public spaces must be kept clean and free from personal garbage or encroachments. Cooperation from all shopkeepers is expected to maintain hygiene and discipline in the area.

Public communication:- legal offense. Strict action.

It is hereby informed that any approach roads constructed without proper hume pipes or culverts, causing obstruction to drainage alongside Magam- Beerwah- Doodhpathri (NH701A) will be removed during the ongoing drain cleaning process.

Any attempt to hinder or disturb the process—including removal of blockades or interference in ex*****on of work—will be treated as a legal offense. Strict action will be taken, and individuals involved will be directly named in FIRs at the concerned police station.
Residents are advised to voluntarily remove such obstructions. Failing which, the department will proceed with necessary action.

Kindly cooperate and allow the work to continue smoothly, as it is being carried out for public safety and overall betterment.

Speed breakers at Warihama and Ariphanthann Beerwah will be removed — these have been found to be unauthorized and lacking official approval.
Reportedly installed by the previous caretaking department, they pose safety risks and have been causing inconvenience to commuters.
No one is allowed to create any hindrance on road.

Drain cleaning and side clearance work underway from police station upto GHSS here in Beerwah town. Years of neglect won’t be fixed overnight, but progress has finally begun , and it’s looking promising.
