A meeting of the Public Welfare Forum was organized today at Kathua under the chairmanship of Sh. Amar Nath Thakur, Former President of Plus Two Lecturers Forum J&K, with the aim of expanding and further strengthening the Forum in the larger interest of public welfare and social justice.
The meeting focused on promoting public causes, seeking social justice, sharing social responsibilities, fighting for the rights of the people, and highlighting public demands, issues, and grievances before the corridors of power. The members observed that the Public Welfare Forum has been consistently raising several important public-related issues before the highest authorities since 2022. These included issues concerning employees, students, and the general public, particularly the acute shortage of staff in schools and health institutions.
The Forum has also been actively highlighting unresolved local issues related to roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare, education, and other essential public services before the concerned departments and authorities.
During the meeting, several new members were entrusted with responsibilities in the district body. It was unanimously decided to constitute units of the Public Welfare Forum at village, ward, tehsil, district, and provincial levels in order to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level and ensure effective public participation.
