टीबी एक ऐसी बीमारी है जिसका नाम सुनते ही टेंशन हो जाती है। हालांकि प्रॉपर इलाज और कुछ नई तकनीकियों ने इसके इलाज को आसान बना दिया है।

टीबी यानी ट्यूबरक्‍युलोसिस बैक्टीरिया से होनेवाली बीमारी है। सबसे कॉमन फेफड़ों का टीबी है और यह हवा के जरिए एक से दूसरे इंसान में फैलती है। मरीज के खांसने और छींकने के दौरान मुंह-नाक से निकलने वालीं बारीक बूंदें इन्हें फैलाती हैं। ऐसे में मरीज के बहुत पास बैठकर बात की जाए तो भी इन्फेक्शन हो सकता है। फेफडों के अलावा ब्रेन, बच्चेदानी, आँख, मुँह, पेट,आँत, गले और हड्डी आदि में भी टी.बी हो सकती है । फेफड़ों के अलावा दूसरी कोई टीबी एक से दूसरे में नहीं फैलती। टीबी खतरनाक इसलिए है क्योंकि यह शरीर के जिस हिस्से में होती है, सही इलाज न हो तो उसे बेकार कर देती है। फेफड़ों की टीबी फेफड़ों को धीरे-धीरे बेकार कर देती है तो यूटरस की टीबी बांझपन की वजह बनती है, ब्रेन की टीबी में मरीज को दौरे पड़ते हैं तो हड्डी की टीबी हड्डी को गला सकती है।

टीबी का इलाज पूरी तरह मुमकिन है। टीबी का इलाज लंबा चलता है। इसे ठीक होने में 6 महीने से 2 साल तक का समय लग सकता है।
