From When it comes to battle of the titans in Industry Netflix Vs. Blockbuster is a popular discussion, the story of an underdog company slaying goliath and nobody is their to mourne the death, only cheers... why?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We welcome Blockbuster into our homes and our families for decades, why is it we're so happy to kick them to the curb? well to be honest, they valued profits more than valued their customers. Sure they entertained their customers but at what cost? dirty late fee's, rude staff, difficult registration forms, the requirement of a licence and the list goes on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember my mother literally driving to the other side of town and going out of her way by an hour or more to avoid having to pay overdue fees. She would prefer to shop at a competitor than face the embarrassment of a late fee. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The once beloved entertainment giant started to feel like a horrid debt collector then like a gift from god Netflix arrives with their fun and loving brand that desired to remedy all the pains that blockbuster created.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The streaming service was the final blow as Blockbuster refused to innovate and the tyrant was history. Nobody care and we joyfully jumped ship into the new era of entertainment. What can you learn from this? Remain customer-centric, never money-centric.
