Em. No. नहीं’. Photobook, notebook.

Em/No/ नहीं’ was the name of photographer Tarun Bhartiya's exhibition documenting the resistance to Uranium mining in Meghalaya for 20 years, that exhibition inspires this eponymous book published by Yaarbal.

Tarun Bhartiya’s pictures of idyllic studies of Khasi village life, set alongside charged incidents loaded with the energy of resistance tell the story here.
The design, soft textured cover, and the intimate size are inspired by the idea of this book being a notebook journaling 20 years.

The cover is designed as a monument to resistance. Typefaces and their opposing placement set Khasi and English in dialogue. Custom lettering and quiet graphics mark key phases in his story.

We designed for Whiskey to Enterprise AI and pretty much everything in between—brand websites, books, tea, book covers and identity for the revival of an ancient art form.

An evening of conversation and remembrance for Tarun Bhartiya and his work in Meghalaya.

Activist Angela Rangad, photo editor Tanvi Mishra, Yaarbal founder Sanjay Kak and ICD principal Itu Chaudhuri get together on December 20 at the ICD office to discuss Tarun's works with his first photobook — Em/ No/ नहीं in view.

We thought you might be interested in books!

Not necessarily on graphic design. But the first one is, just to inaugurate a series.

From today, we will (try to) post one book a week with the reader's thoughts on it. It could be something we're reading, or have just read, or like today's book—re-re-reading.

Identity design and branding for Geetanjali Institute of Medical Sciences, Jaipur. 

The identity expresses the aspirations of the new hospital. The Geetanjali logo carries multiple meanings within it. 

A pair of hands gestures the Gyan Mudra, a symbol of knowledge in traditional knowledge systems. The soft, calm form of the hands pictures care. The stepped structure references the Jantar Mantar, a remarkable 18th century astronomical instrument that is also a symbol of Jaipur. The form is familiar, organic, and constructed; it points to tradition, the human touch, and precision.

Beyond the identity, the colour, Geetanjali Sandstone, is a tribute the architecture of Jaipur, specifically the pink sandstone buildings that earned it the title of the ‘Pink City of India’. 

Our collaboration with leadership at Geetanjali to express their vision and architect Mr. Ayush Kasliwal to extend the identity into the hospital campus space was an enriching one.

A spectacle for America's finest Bourbon.

Woodford Reserve is the premier bourbon whiskey in Brown Forman’s stable.

ICD designed a special pack for the Indian festive season last year.

The festive pack’s structure lets the whiskey shine through, with the design creating a layer of intrigue and texture from behind, hinted at the complexity and the spectacle that awaits the drinker.

On the pack, the mood is celebratory but in a matured manner. Fireworks light up the rich brown canvas of the box.

Inside the box is a reverberating sparkler circle, with Woodford Reserve brandmark ‘WR’ at the center.

The sparkles are rendered in a rich copper gold, inspired by the copper pot stills used to make the whiskey in their historic distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, USA.
