Panchayat 2, the heartwarming Hindi comedy-drama series streamed on Amazon Prime Video, clinched the prestigious first-ever OTT Award for Web Series at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa.

Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar, Panchayat 2 intricately weaves the tale of Abhishek Tripathi, an urban graduate reluctantly embracing the role of Secretary at a decrepit Panchayat Office in the remote fictional village of Phulera, situated in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district.

Filmmakers today are faced with the ever evolving reality of securely archiving their film or file based productions, digitally. A Masterclass session on ‘Digital Motion Picture Preservation’ was held today at the 54th International Film Festival of India, Goa deliberating on this topic. The Masterclass, led by veteran film restoration expert and film historian, Theodore E. Gluck, aimed at emphasizing the efforts of the ‘Academy Digital Preservation Forum’ in preserving the motion picture in digital format. It is an initiative of the Science and Technology Council under the ‘Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.’

The 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) featured an enriching masterclass with celebrated actor Mr. Pankaj Tripathi, in collaboration with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. The session was moderated by renowned film critic and journalist, Mr. Mayank Shekhar.

Reflecting on the art of acting, Mr. Tripathi said that the world is a theatre, and we play different roles in our lives. Acting is the recreation of real-life roles and emotions. One needs to be empathetic in becoming a proficient actor, Tripathi said. According to him, acting serves a broader purpose: to make individuals better human beings by understanding diverse perspectives. “When you put yourselves in someone’s shoes, and understand their thoughts, their emotions, and their perspectives, you also become a better human,” says Tripathi.
