I didn't grow up watching Super GT.
I'm from Barcelona. I moved to Tokyo, barely speaking the language, trying to figure out how to build something in a world I wasn't born into.
And somehow I ended up in the paddock at Fuji Speedway, Round 2 of Super GT, watching 谷口 信輝 - Nobuteru Taniguchi do what he does.
What got me wasn't the racing. It was everything around it.
The calmness. The way he carries himself in a paddock that's full of noise and energy completely peaceful, completely himself. The way fans approach him and you can just feel the warmth come back at them. The way the GoodSmile Racing, operates more like a family than a racing outfit, built on community and personal connection, not just logo deals and sponsor budgets.
I've been to a lot of events. I've never felt a paddock feel like that.
There's something here that motorsport fans outside Asia genuinely don't know they're missing. And I'm at the beginning of what I think is going to be a really good story to tell.
More from Fuji coming soon!
