Today, I presented a Public Petition to the Senate seeking a comprehensive review of the Mount Ng’iro Forest boundaries and surrounding settlement framework.

Mount Ng’iro remains a priceless national water tower whose conservation is non-negotiable. However, nearly 70 years after its gazettement, the realities on the ground have changed significantly. Population has grown, settlements have expanded, and essential public infrastructure has developed around the forest.

It is therefore long overdue to harmonize environmental conservation with sustainable development and community livelihoods through public participation, scientific evidence, and responsible planning for the benefit of both present and future generations.

On Monday, there were several visits to Nairobi for appointments that have sparked political discussion.

One section of Jubilee MCAs visited the Jubilee headquarters following Saturday's UDA rally in Maralal. Notably, the MCA who recently defected from Jubilee to UDA did not attend that meeting.

Meanwhile, another group of leaders visited the Deputy President at his residence. Reports indicate that some former nominated MCAs were denied access to the meeting, raising more questions.

There has been considerable political wrangling in recent days. Attention is now turning to the nominated MCAs from Jubilee, with some observers expecting the party to crack the whip if it determines that any members have violated party rules.

This has left many asking: Why are some leaders scrambling to join UDA? Is it about serving the public, or is it driven by personal interests?

Good morning, Samburu Digital News.
Kindly hide my identity.
I am one of the applicants who applied for the jobs advertised by the Samburu County Government and attended the interviews some time ago. We are concerned that the list of successful applicants has still not been released.

There are claims from people said to be close to the Governor that delegations are being received daily to influence who should be offered the positions.Our question is: why shouldn't the County Public Service Board release the results based purely on merit? Why should the recruitment process become political after the positions were publicly advertised and interviews conducted?

We are requesting transparency and a timely release of the results so that all applicants and the public can have confidence in the fairness of the recruitment process.

We now call upon the Board Secretary Mr Lentiyoo to release the results with no political interference.
