STATEMENT BY ROBERT KABATA MORAN
24 June 2026
Following consultations with members of the business community and other stakeholders, I wish to clarify that, to the best of my knowledge, no formal notice has been issued to the relevant security agencies regarding any planned peaceful demonstrations within Nanyuki or its environs.
I remain committed to constructive dialogue, lawful engagement, and stakeholder consultation as the most effective means of addressing public concerns. Sustainable solutions are best achieved through meaningful discussions that safeguard both constitutional rights and the socio-economic wellbeing of our community.
I am concerned about the potential impact of any public unrest, including risks to lives, property, businesses, and investor confidence. As a key commercial hub, Nanyuki's stability is vital to livelihoods, trade, and economic growth across Laikipia County and the wider region.
I therefore urge all stakeholders, community leaders, civil society organizations, government agencies, and members of the public to continue pursuing dialogue and other lawful avenues of engagement in order to maintain peace, protect lives and property, and preserve social cohesion.
Let us work together to safeguard peace, stability, and the continued growth of our county.
