Welcome to the Mowgli family, Home of The Sparrow, Inc.! I have been wanting to work with them since I moved to the area, so I'm *really* excited for this collaboration!

Home of the Sparrow’s mission is to reduce the prevalence of homelessness among women, children, families, and individuals through creative strategies and community partnerships that result in lasting self-sufficiency.

Home of the Sparrow not only provides transitional shelter, but also affordable housing and rapid re-housing combined with supportive services that address the core issues of homelessness (domestic violence, unforeseen housing or financial crisis, a death in the family, and/or a medical emergency). The economy and rising cost of living contribute to unstable housing situations as well.

Heya, 20 and under folks. Would you like to be featured in Mowgli Quarterly? We prioritize providing space for youth voices in each issue, and we would love the following (no experience required, we will guide you every step of the way and only release what we all — parents included — agree to) »»»

SUMMER ISSUE // RESPITE
Looking for (2-3) reviewers of any type of media on the topic of relaxation, respite, relief, etc. Favorite podcasts, graphic novels, movies, TV shows, zine, music on this topic — please share it with us. 500 words or less due April 30.

Looking for an artist to give us new or existing artwork for the cover in theme with cryptids (NO AI, ONLY ORIGINAL ART). 8.5 x 11" hi-res digital file due by July 1.

Also looking for writers to review or do a whole article on your favorite cryptid. We also have a couple graphic novels we're thinking of for older youth, we will send them your way if you'd like to review something new. 500 words or less (reviews) 1300 words or less (full article) due by July 1.

This year we’ve invited artists to take center stage on the cover of each issue, which also influences the interior design (and I’m loving it). Thank you, Ed Schell, for your cover art, "Self-Hate." We also have guest writers Brekke Day (explaining the benefits of Montessori for early childhood development), our much loved co-editor Alesia Aceves (sharing her experience as a librarian with teens and AI), Jacqueline Rhew (talking resiliency in families as co-founder of the Center for Emotional Wellness of the Northwest Suburbs), and Anna Merritt (proving a brain in its 90s has decades of wonderfulness to share). We also are continuing to uplift the youth voice this year and love Nick’s review of "I Kill Giants."

Teen Girls have so much to say

That's What Teens Say is an ideal platform to say it!

We are looking for 13- to 18-year-old girls in the Champaign County area to participate in a 3-Day program where they will find their voice and develop their own personal story. The weekend is full of communication skill building, confidence enhancing exercises, and public speaking coaching with our caring mentors. Teens will develop and write a personal story and on the final day, stand on a stage and proudly share their story in front of a live audience.
