As we wound up our long day of the Meet and Greet the People tour in Mavindini Ward, residents of Muusini expressed their determination to elect leaders who mean development for the region,not mere rhetoric.

As we prepare to make important choices about our leadership, I encourage voters to choose leaders with a clear vision, a record of service and the determination to turn promises into tangible development.

Years of water scarcity have strained households, hit women hardest and held back agriculture.

Residents now want clean, reliable water for homes and irrigation for farms. Thwake Dam offers a major opportunity, but delivery must reach the people.

Today, alongside Hon. Prof Philip Kaloki, Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, OGW , Hon. Dr. Michael Kisoi Munyao , Wavinya Nzioka, Hon. Fred Muteti, EBS and other leaders, we engaged residents in a public forum to hear their priorities, concerns and expectations on development and leadership.

In the Senate, I will push for legislation and policies that make water security a reality across Makueni.

This Friday, alongside friends, we thronged Ivingoni, Nzambani, Kibwezi East, to mourn Mzee Mbuw'a Kaloki, uncle to Hon. Prof Philip Kaloki.

A man of the cloth in the Baptist Church, Mzee Mbuw'a leaves behind a legacy of devotion, discipline, strong principles, he was a good man.

To Prof. Kaloki and the entire extended family, we will walk the journey of healing with you through this difficult loss.

May Mzee Mbuwaโ€™s soul rest in perfect peace.

Winfred Yavi Mutile, with roots in Makueni, struck triple gold in the 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m and 10,000m at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

I remember her early days training at Ngakaa Grounds, developed during my time in the Makueni County Cabinet under Governor Kivutha Kibwana

From Ngakaa to the world stage, her story is proof of what talent and opportunity can achieve. As your next Senator, I will legislate to advance inclusivity in sports across Makueni.

El Nino is highly disruptive, but for an arid county like Makueni, the rains are also a blessing. We must remain vigilant and prepare for the risks that come with heavy rainfall, while taking full advantage of the opportunities it brings, particularly improved water reserves and better harvests.

Let us prepare early, minimise the risks and, at the same time, reap the benefits that come with the rains.
