Before donating blood, you should:
β’ Get enough sleep (at least 6β8 hours) the night before.
β’ Drink plenty of water beforehand (helps veins be easier to find and prevents dizziness).
β’ Eat a meal beforehand (donβt go on an empty stomach) β choose light foods, not too fatty.
β’ Eat iron-rich foods 1β2 days before (red meat, liver, beans, green vegetables).
β’ Avoid alcohol π» at least 24 hours before.
β’ Donβt smoke 1β2 hours before (to avoid high blood pressure/dizziness).
β Do NOT donate blood if you:
Have a cold/flu, diarrhea/vomiting, extreme fatigue, are on your period, are pregnant/recently gave birth, or just received a vaccine/antibiotic (inform the medical staff for evaluation).
