From the day we were born, our parents hoped for us to have better days and a fruitful future. Our parents witnessed the civil war, the Israeli occupation and much more. And we thought what more can happen? Can worse days come?

My generation and mostly my surroundings dreamed of a better Lebanon. A country where they would live, love and build a career. A country where they would settle in, have their morning coffee with their parents and take their children to school.

The past couple of years were hard. Hard on parents who sent their children abroad to study in a safer environment. Hard on the graduates, who flew away looking for jobs. Hard on sick people who couldn't afford hospitalization fees, and much more.

The past couple of months were terrifying. Lebanon witnessed the collapse of it's economy, the widespread of the Corna Virus, shortage in it's supplies and electricity and much more.

Yesterday, Beirut witnessed it's sadest day ever. My prayers and condolences go to my brothers and sisters, the Martyrs, who died yesterday.

When I heard the explosion, I was shocked, terrified and scared. I called the two people who I cared about the most and weren't with me. Both didn't answer following twenty calls. I thought I lost them, lost my loved ones, thought about my future, how sad it will be and depressing. Luckily, both were alive and safe.

I posted this picture to point out three essential points that we should never forget and hold on too:

1. We should never hate, hold grudges, fight with our loved ones, distance ourself and not forgive. Life is short. We can't take things for granted anymore. Spread love and peace.

2. If we don't hit the streets, defend our right to live in peace and hang those who harmed us for the past forty years, we deserve to rot in Hell.

3.Never lose hope. Follow your dreams. Work for a better tomorrow. Our people have suffered, yet we do have the means as bright and intellectual people to turn the table. The moment we lose belief in ourselves, we die.

The past 4 years have been filled with great achievements, happy memories and many new friends.

Graduating with a dual degree in Economics and Political Science from AUB is a great honor after many sleepless nights.

I owe my success in academics, sport and elections to both my parents and my siblings who were, are and will always be my biggest supporters. They were there at each step and never failed in pushing me forward.

AUB, I am more than proud to be part of your latest 2019 Alumni Class. ❤️ @ American University of Beirut (AUB)
