𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙇𝙤𝙜𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙜

American fast-food restaurant Burger King has rebranded for the first time in 20 years with a revamped logo, packaging and uniforms designed by creative agency Jones Knowles Ritchie.

The announcement signals a commitment to digital-first expression and recent improvements to taste and food quality, through the removal of colors, flavors and preservatives from artificial sources from menu items, as well as an ambitious pledge to environmental sustainability.

Burger King has carried out a comprehensive rebrand to update all elements of its visual identity with a design that it describes as "mouthwatering, big and bold, playfully irreverent and proudly true".

As part of this revamp the fast-food chain has ditched its previous logo, introduced in 1999, in favor of a flat design that is more aligned with the logo used by the brand throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s. The seamlessly meets the brand evolution of the times and pays homage to the brand heritage with a refined design that’s confident, simple and fun. The selected colors are rich and bold, inspired by BK’s flame grilling.

Alongside the new logo, Jones Knowles Ritchie has redesigned the brand's food packaging which will include the items' names in a new custom typeface called 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘀.

Perhaps the fresh design and familiarity could re-ignite diners' interest in Burger King. Whopper anyone?

You may have heard of pharmaceutical company Pfizer over the last few months, with it having jointly created a somewhat notable vaccine. Keen to emphasize its "extraordinary focus on science", the company has revealed full rebranding, doing away with its blue pill-shaped logo.

The new logo features a double helix spiral, and marks the first major redesign for Pfizer in 70 years. The replacement of the pill with DNA is said to signify a shift from commerce to science, and while hardly one of the best logos of all time, it's an appropriately clean, clinical new look – if a little dull.

The logo won’t win any design awards. Even with the swirling mark, it still has the corporate look of a gray suit. But it does a better job of capturing Pfizer’s aspirations than the previous logo, and helps the company shed some of the less savory aspects of the pharma industry’s image, like opioids and erectile dysfunction pills.

Along with the updated logo, the rebrand includes a new typeface, Noto Sans. Designed by Google, the font family is, according to Pfizer, "sleek and practical, minimal and inviting – and asserts itself only when asked to" (presumably that means it also comes in bold).

Pfizer has also stripped its eight-color palette down to a simplified, two-tone blue color scheme. "In an industry awash with blue," Pfizer says, "we're doubling down". Fair enough.

The Pringles logo features the head of a fictional character. It is essentially a stylized cartoon caricature of Julius Pringles, a baker of the marketing legend. Until 2002, the mascot had eyebrows and a black bow tie with the brand name. Later versions look modern: designer Louis R. Dixon gave them a three-dimensional look and brought the word “Pringles” out of the tie.
