يُلخّص الـ.ـشـ.ـهـيـ.ـد بـاسـل الأعـ.ـرج مفهوم “العَوْنَة” كنموذج للـمـ.ـقـ.ـاومـة المجتمعية الأصيلة، حيث تمثّل نظامًا اقتصاديًا واجتماعيًا مستقلاً عن الاحـ.ـتـ.ـلال والسلطة، قائمًا على الاعتماد الذاتي في البناء والزراعة ومواجهة الأزمات. كما يراها أداة لتفكيك الاستعمار الثقافي، إذ أن استبدالها بالديون والتمويل الخارجي يُدجّن المجتمع ويُفقده صموده، فاستعادتها هي طريق التحرّر. وتكسر “العَوْنَة” منطق الخلاص الفردي الذي يروّجه النظام الرأسمالي، وتعزّز العمل الجماعي شرطًا للنهوض. لمزيد من التفاصيل، يُنصح بقراءة كتابه «وجدتُ أجوبتي».
Awna
The m.a.r.t.y.r Bassel Al-Araj summarizes the concept of “Al-‘Awna” as an authentic model of community r.e.s.i.s.t.a.n.c.e. It represents an economic and social system independent of the o.c.c.u.p.a.t.i.o.n and the authority, based on self-reliance in construction, agriculture, and facing crises. He also sees it as a tool to dismantle cultural colonialism, as replacing ‘Awna with bank debts or externally funded projects domesticates society and robs it of its means of steadfastness (sumud); thus, reclaiming it is the path to liberation. ‘Awna also breaks the logic of individual salvation promoted by the capitalist and colonial system, reinforcing collective action as an essential condition for progress and liberation.
