CTA Placement Mistakes I See on 90% of Creative Websites
Last week, I was browsing a wedding photographerâs website. Gorgeous portfolio. Stunning imagery. I was ready to book a consultation.
But I couldnât find the âContact Meâ button anywhere.
After scrolling for what felt like forever, I found it tucked away in tiny text at the bottom of her About page. By then, Iâd already moved on to the next photographer.
She lost a potential client because of one simple mistake: CTA placement.
The Invisible CTA Problem
Hereâs what I see on most creative websites:
Mistake #1: The âHidden Treasureâ CTA
Your âBook Nowâ button is buried in the footer, or worse â only on your Contact page. If I have to hunt for it, I wonât.
Mistake #2: The âOne and Doneâ Approach
You have ONE contact button on your entire homepage. Thatâs like having one exit in a crowded theater â not everyone will find it.
Mistake #3: The âAfterthoughtâ Placement
Your CTA appears after your entire life story. By the time I scroll through 12 paragraphs about your journey, Iâve forgotten why I came here.
What Actually Works:
Put your main CTA above the fold. Before I scroll, before I read anything, I should see how to work with you.
Repeat it strategically. After your hero section, after your portfolio, after testimonials. Give me multiple chances to say yes.
Make it scannable. When people skim your site (and they will), your CTA should jump out like a neon sign.
Real Results
I helped a luxury interior designer move her âSchedule Consultationâ button from the bottom of her Services page to three strategic spots on her homepage.
Result: 40% more consultation bookings in the first month.
Same beautiful work. Same compelling copy. Just better CTA placement.
Your Quick Fix:
Right now, go to your website. Can you find your main CTA in 3 seconds without scrolling? If not, youâre losing clients.
The rule: Make it impossible to miss, and easy to click.
Your dream clients are already convinced by your work â donât make them work to hire you.
