ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නවතම බෞද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා පාදක වී ඇත්තේ 5 වැනි සියවසේ දී ඉදිකරන ලද පැරණි ස්මාරකයක් වන අනුරාධපුර පුරාණ නගරයේ පිහිටි සුප්රසිද්ධ අවුකන බුද්ධ ප්රතිමාව මතය. බටමුල්ල කන්ද ජාත්යන්තර බෞද්ධ මධ්යස්ථානයේ නව ප්රතිමාව සඳහා අරමුදල් සපයන ලද්දේ මතුගම එජාප සංවිධායක ජගත් පින්නගොඩවිතාන මහතා විසිනි. ප්රතිමාවේ උස අඩි 135 ක් වන අතර දකුණු ආසියාවේ උසම බුද්ධ ප්රතිමාව ලෙස සැලකේ.

Below the colossal statue, a meditation centre with several cabins was built to provide dedicated areas for devotees to engage in worship or reflection; this provides isolation from the chaos of crowds rushing to see the record-breaking statue which is becoming one of the top places to visit in Kalutara.
