Another Procurement Scandal Hits Liberia National Commission on Arms: Vice Chair Accused of Unauthorized Vehicle Purchase

Monrovia, Liberia – August 7, 2025 — Fresh allegations of financial impropriety have emerged at the Liberia National Commission on Arms (LNCA), with Vice Chairman Mr. Ben K. Wymon being accused of making an unapproved purchase of a vehicle worth $45,000 USD.

According to sources close to the Commission, Mr. Wymon allegedly acquired a Toyota Fortuner without the required approval from the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning. The transaction is said to have bypassed standard procurement procedures, raising serious concerns about transparency and accountability within the institution.

This incident comes on the heels of similar allegations involving Amin Modad, further fueling public distrust in government agencies and the management of public resources.

A passport is a proof of identity and nationality which allows you to enter and exit other countries. In essence, it verifies one's citizenship. It grants you protection and a degree of safety in Foreign Lands.

So how the hell can you value a National Identification Card 🪪 over a Passport? Are these people normal?

Meanwhile, the only prerequisite to obtaining the so-called mighty National Identification Card is to pay $5, $10 or $12 USD. Almost all of the foreigners in this country have our National Identification Card.

CLLR. GIBSON WAS found guilty of shortchanging Mrs. Freda Mensah, believed to be in her late 60s, 75-acre farmland he was selling on her behalf. Court documents and other financial documents reveal Cllr. Gibson received an initial payment of US$22,000 but reported only US$2,000.

A 22-year-old Congo Town resident, Momoh Davis, is receiving treatment at ELWA Hospital after allegedly being beaten and mutilated in the compound of a Chinese national, "Chinese Michael."
According to his mother, Davis was detained, brutalized by security guards from Pilot Security Guard Service, and left to suffer for three days before being handed over to the police.

The legal representative of "Chinese Michael" claims Davis attempted to steal solar lights but provided no evidence.
Davis has not been charged with any crime, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the allegations and the authorities’ handling of the case. The community leadership has gotten involved in the unfortunate situation
