Roof Renovation - Sanniquellie Public Hospital (GW Harley), A $45,000.00 Project approved by Arcelor Mittal Liberia The G. W. Harley Hospital (in Sanniquellie, Nimba County) is the second referral hospital in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.

It is located near the railroad and has been the subject of calls for relocation due to the alleged noise interference from the moving trains.

Arcelor Mittal’s Budgeted support will include repairing the damaged roof, ceiling and access doors spread across three buildings. This shows that AML is committed towards prioritizing the needs of the people they work with and the residents in their regions of operations.

AML has been contributing US $3.0 million annually for the counties in which its operates.

To date the company has paid $45 million towards this commitment. In response to citizens complaints that the funds were not benefitting the affected communities, AML convinced GoL that 20% if these funds should be managed directly by these communities.

As per MDA requirements, AML rehabilitated, equipped, and operates 2 hospitals in Yekepa and Buchanan. Over 30,000 people receive medical care from health facilities operated by AML.

More so, major renovation and improvements are ongoing at the Buchanan hospital.

AML have also provided direct support to the Liberian Government Hospital.

In an effort to support National Government pillar programs, Arccelor Mittal through its Social Corporate Responsibilities has invested more than $7 million to refurbish the state go the art training facility in Yekepa, Nimba County.

Increasingly, more than 159 students have benefited from this training program. Recently, about 59 students graduated from the program in this year.

What a good way to adequately invest in human capital development. Liberia has relied on this investment so greatly.

Arcellor Mittal Liberia expansion project which encompasses processing, rail and port facilities will be one of the Largest mining investment in West Africa.
It will see AML investing an additional US$800 million in the Country taking the total invest to US$ 2.5 Billion.
This investment will help stabilize the Economy and provide local job opportunity for more Liberians.
