Vanguard Luxury Brands is an importer, marketer and distributor of premium beverage and liquor brands. James France, the Managing Director of Vanguard Luxury Brands, has had over 25 years' international liquor marketing experience. In the USA, James managed J&B and later launched Don Julio tequila and managed the Edrington and Mount Gay portfolios. In Australia he was the exclusive Australian importer of Herradura and El Jimador tequilas, later managing Drambuie and then introducing Ketel One and Hendrick’s to the Australian market. Vanguard has been going since 2008 and we are proud to supply Australia’s best establishments with our carefully-selected range of spirits, liqueurs and syrups. Please enjoy responsibly. Hosted by Ocho Brand Ambassador Grant Shearon & the incredible team at udaberri, the event explores the connection between terroir, flavour, food, and tequila, with each course thoughtfully paired to showcase how locality shapes both great food and Tequila Ocho.

Our Double Dirty Martini Station at the Drinks 100 Gala, pouring Four Pillars Olive Leaf Gin, Crawley’s Dirty Martini Olive Brine, and Oscar.697 Extra Dry Vermouth. Complete with a martini fountain, custom garnish bar & an olive tower. 🫒🍸

Yesterday, we, alongside T E Q U I L A O C H O and Bartenders’ Weekender brought together some of Australia’s finest for Plate and Glass—an afternoon celebrating the connection between terroir, flavour, food, and tequila.

Across three courses, guests experienced six different Tequila Ocho expressions, tasting how locality and growing conditions shape flavour in much the same way they do with great food. Each pairing was created to showcase the nuances of both the dish and the tequila, curated by the team at udaberri who were fantastic.

From fresh & bright Kingfish Aguachile paired with vibrant Plata expressions, through to grilled pork jowl and Venezuelan cachapa alongside layered Reposados, and finishing with spiced cauliflower and champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate) - inspired flavours matching Ocho’s complex, sweet and savoury Anejo expressions.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a memorable experience. We look forward to doing it again in the future!
