People get turned off or confused by 'marketing'. Not so much that it is a complex subject (it is not) but because there are so many intentional or unintentional misrepresentations out there. For business owners (because I am talking to a lot of business owners these days) - they have been misled, taken advantage of and believe that they are doing marketing - but in reality it is more of sales or something else entirely.

If a given business can do the following three, they will do well. Of course there is always more to do but start with these and it will be good or at least decent marketing that you are doing.

1. Know what people really need
2. Keep things simple for your customers
3. Get on top and stay of mind
