The fourteenth day of every lunar month or the day before the new moon is known as Shivratri. Among all the twelve Shivratris that occur in a calendar year, Maha Shivratri, the one that occurs in February-March is of the most spiritual significance. On this night, the planet's northern hemisphere is positioned in such a way that there is a natural upsurge of energy in a human being. This is a day when nature is pushing one towards one’s spiritual peak. It is to make use of this, that in this tradition, we established a nightlong festival. To allow this natural upsurge of energies to find its way, one of the fundamentals of this nightlong festival is to ensure that you remain awake with your spine vertical throughout the night.

Maha Shivratri is an opportunity and a possibility to bring yourself to that experience of the vast emptiness within every human being, which is the source of all creation. On the one hand, Shiva is known as the destroyer. On the other, he is known as the most compassionate. He is also known to be the greatest of the givers. The yogic lore is rife with many stories about Shiva’s compassion. His ways of expressing his compassion have been incredible and astonishing simultaneously. So Maha Shivratri is a special night for receiving too. It is our wish and blessing that you must not pass this night without knowing at least a moment of the vastness of this emptiness that we call Shiva. Let this night not just be a night of wakefulness, let this night be a night of awakening for you.

This Maha Shivratri, may Lord Shiva destroy all your sorrow and eliminate all the troubles to help you lead a happy and healthy life.

Slavery came to Mauritius in the mid-1600’s with colonisation by the Netherlands. About 100 slaves from Madagascar were brought to Mauritius by the Dutch in the earliest days of colonisation, and many more followed. They were harshly treated, and whenever they rebelled, the punishment was extremely severe.

However, in the early 1700’s, the Netherlands gave up on its colony in Mauritius and abandoned it to the French. The new French rulers soon brought yet more slaves. In 1810, the British seized control of Mauritius, and already by that time, seven out of every 10 people in Mauritius were slaves.

Finally, on 1 February, 1835, slavery was abolished in Mauritius. The government paid the plantation owners to compensate them for their loss, but the decree to end slavery was not optional.

Today, Mauritius looks back to the end of slavery and all of the social and economic changes it brought with it. It was, in many respects, the beginning of “modern Mauritius

Responsibilities

•Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps
•Organize, develop or source training programs to meet specific training needs
•Liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design
•Develop training aids such as manuals and handbooks
•Track and report on training outcomes
•Provide feedback to program participants and management
•Evaluate and make recommendations on training material and methodology
•Maintain employee training records

Qualifications
