Mauritius celebrates its Independence Day today. 🇲🇺

12 March 1968 marks an important moment in the country’s history. On that day, Mauritius became an independent nation and began writing its own future.

It’s a day to remember the people who worked for this freedom. And a day to recognize what the country has built since then.

Mauritius is known for its diversity, its cultures, and the strong sense of community that connects its people. Different origins. Different traditions. Yet one nation.

Independence Day is also a reminder. Progress comes from unity, respect, and the will to move forward together.

Today, Sylvie MIQUEL joined the online session of the BNI Ebene chapter in formation to share her testimony.

This launch is a milestone : it is the first English-speaking BNI chapter in Mauritius.

A significant step that reflects the bilingual and international reality of business in Mauritius, while opening new opportunities for entrepreneurs seeking structured, referral-based growth.

The founding members will set the culture, the standards, and the foundation of this chapter.

The BNI Ebene chapter is currently selecting its founding members.

This morning, some BNI MAURITIUS members attended Module 2 of their Member Success Program with Sylvie MIQUEL.

Focus : Effective Networking & Impactful Infomercials.
The goal is simple: help each member communicate with more clarity and impact.

On the agenda :
• The fundamentals of productive networking
• How to be clear and specific about what you do
• Building a short, memorable infomercial
• Structuring a featured presentation that drives referrals

At BNI, referrals don’t happen by chance.
They happen when your message is clear.
The more precise you are, the easier it is for others to refer you.

Le 11 février dernier, nous avons vécu un très bel évènement BNI MAURITIUS.

Près de 90 participants étaient présents, dont plus de 40 visiteurs.
Des entrepreneurs, des dirigeants, des indépendants. Tous venus avec l’envie d’échanger, de créer du lien et de développer leur activité.

Merci à chacun d’entre vous.
Merci pour votre présence.
Merci pour votre énergie.

Et surtout merci pour votre participation active. Ce sont vos échanges, vos présentations et votre ouverture qui ont donné du sens à cette soirée.

La présence de Stéphane TERRAZA, co-directeur national de BNI Maurice, a aussi marqué cette rencontre. Son engagement aux côtés des membres et des visiteurs montre la solidité de la dynamique locale.

Natasha Towokul-Jiagoo, co-directrice nationale de BNI Maurice, partageait d’ailleurs ceci : « En tant que nouveau ND, je suis ravie de voir que BNI devient de plus en plus visible. Les retours sur la méthode sont très positifs. Les membres qui l’appliquent aujourd’hui savent présenter avec clarté leurs activités. Ils sont plus confiants, montent en compétences et ont gagné en assurance. »

Et c’est exactement cela, .

This morning, Sylvie MIQUEL had the pleasure of kicking off a new training & coaching journey with BNI Mauritius entrepreneurs.

The program is called :
“Strengthen your marketing strategy, improve your sales, and develop your soft skills.”

It’s a 4-step pathway, designed to help entrepreneurs take a step back, get clarity, and build growth with intention.

👉 Module 1 was all about the foundations : clarifying vision, setting clear objectives, and defining a growth strategy based on business referrals.

What we worked on together this morning :
- Introduction to the method and BNI core values
- Interactive group discussion on short, mid, and long-term vision
- Setting sales objectives using the SMART method and a simple dashboard
- Calculating expected ROI and identifying key performance indicators

Over the past few months, a new organization has been taking shape, built around a shared national leadership.

BNI Mauritius is now led by three National Co-Directors : Natasha Towokul-Jiagoo, Stéphane Terraza and Sylvie MIQUEL.

This decision was made with intention. It is based on the complementarity of our backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives.
Finance, compliance, communication, network development, and executive support. Our experiences connect and strengthen one another.

We have chosen to commit for the long term.
Ten years, with a clear ambition : to contribute in a concrete, sustainable, and positive way to the economic development of Mauritius.

BNI is, above all, a human journey.
Our responsibility is to provide a strong, demanding, and supportive framework that allows entrepreneurs to grow together.

This new chapter reflects continuity.
