Your website should be able to answer "Are you open on Sunday?" without you.
That's why I'm building Milo, a free and open-source chat assistant for WordPress.
Most website chatbots force a choice: pay for an AI subscription, or settle for a bot that answers nothing. Milo gives you both options:
→ AI mode: connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or a local model. It answers only from your own business info and FAQs, so it doesn't make things up.
→ Basic mode: no AI at all. It answers from your FAQs, searches your pages and points people to your contact page. Costs nothing to run, and nothing leaves your website.
If the AI goes down or hits its budget, Milo switches to Basic mode on its own, so visitors always get an answer.
It also lists the questions it couldn't answer, which is a pretty honest picture of what your website is missing.
It's an early version, and I'm looking for 5 small businesses in Mauritius running WordPress to try it and tell me what breaks. Comment or DM me if you're up for it.
