Cont…

…The pressure was mounting, but I had no time to panic. When things fall apart, a true leader must act quickly. I picked up the phone and called Dr Namadingo, a man I once managed and worked with closely. He didn’t hesitate. He said, “Let’s do this.”

But credit must also go to Lawi, the heart and soul of the show. His passion for delivering excellence kept us grounded through the chaos. Even as Awilo’s silence became unbearable, Lawi refused to let the audience down. He worked alongside me, strategizing and adapting to save the event. His dedication reminded me why he is one of Malawi’s finest performers and professionals.

Within hours, the entire event shifted direction. The buzz reignited, and Malawians didn’t just get a replacement—they got an extraordinary performance from one of their own. Namadingo delivered a full set, and the audience loved every second of it.

The venue? Packed to the brim. The energy? Unmatched. And to top it off, that period, was born turning what could’ve been a disaster into an unforgettable moment in Malawian entertainment.

Lesson 5: When you focus on delivering value, people will rally behind you. Amalawife timakondana.. I will highlight that. We love each other so much. Malawians supported me emotionally, personally, and in many other ways because they believed in the vision.

This wasn’t just a show—it was a reminder of the power of resilience, relationships, and trust. My team, the backbone of Uncle P, worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen. Together, we turned a crisis into my second sold-out show at BICC—the first being with Namadingo in 2017.

Lesson 6: Surround yourself with people who believe in you. A loyal circle can help you achieve the impossible.

In the end, I learned that failure isn’t the end of the story—it’s a stepping stone. What matters most is how you bounce back. That night wasn’t about Awilo’s absence anymore; it was about a team that refused to give up, an artist who stepped up, and a country that believed in the power of showing up.

Lesson 7: Never let fear of failure stop you from pushing forward. The road may be tough, but the rewards of perseverance are worth every struggle.

A night that began with doubt and pressure ended with music, joy, and lessons I’ll carry for a lifetime.

Let me take you back to December 31, 2022—a night I had been dreaming about for months. Lawi Group, myself, and a team of incredible corporate partners had joined forces to bring a once-in-a-lifetime show to Malawi. The headliner? None other than the legendary Awilo Longomba.

The buzz was electrifying. Tickets were flying, the venue was set, and Malawians were ready to usher in the new year in style. But as the date drew closer, cracks began to show. Whispers turned into worry.

*Lesson 1:* Even the best-laid plans can hit unexpected roadblocks. The real test lies in how you handle them.

Still, as a team, we didn’t give up. We convinced Awilo to record a video, promising Malawians he’d come in April 2023 instead. That bought us some time—and some trust.

2022 closed… Koma iyiyi inali ngongole. (We still owed Malawians that show.)

Fast forward to April 27, 2023. I woke up early that morning with hope...but also a pit in my stomach. Awilo’s silence was deafening. Our calls, emails, and texts? Nothing. Had he left for Malawi? Was he even coming? The hours passed, and reality hit like a freight train: He wasn’t.

*Lesson 2:* Trust your instincts, but always prepare for the worst. Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it.

At this point, I couldn’t hold my breath anymore. “Am I a failure?” I asked myself. 😞

Now, imagine this: The pressure and expectations from partners, sponsors, and an audience of thousands looking to you for answers. Canceling the show again would have been disastrous—a failure in the eyes of many.

*Lesson 3:* Leadership means carrying the weight of expectations, even when the pressure feels unbearable.

But as the saying goes, “When the stage is on fire, you don’t run away—you own it.”

I picked up the phone and called someone I knew could save the day. Someone who was more than an artist to me. Someone I had worked with before.

*Lesson 4:* Always nurture strong relationships. You never know when they might save you.

And just like that, Malawians went from expecting one legend to witnessing another.

Want to know who stepped in, what happened next, and how this turned into my second sold-out show at BICC?

Stay tuned. I’m telling the full story soon.
