Skydive for Wildlife

Skydive for Wildlife Jumping for freedom and helping Malawi's rescued wild animals back into the wild where they belong - www.lilongwewildlife.org HOW MUCH? WHATS IT LIKE? WHAT NEXT?

Lilongwe Wildlife Centre is inviting wildlife lovers around the world to SKYDIVE FOR WILDLIFE and help us get a troop of 31 yellow baboons back into the wild where they belong. We’ve raised half the money we need so far and now we’re looking to our lovely supporters to come together and do something crazy to help us reach our target. If you’d like to help then please read on…

WHEN? We’re looking

for everyone to jump in the months of September and October in their respective countries. If you’re in Malawi we will be jumping at the beginning of October and you would be very welcome to join us. If you can persuade your friends and family to sponsor you it shouldn’t cost you any money. We’ve done a bit of research and it looks like a skydive costs anything from $200-300 or about £200. As with other charity challenges the cost of the skydive can be deducted from the money raised so anything you raise above that can be donated towards the release programme. We ask that you aim to raise at least £100 extra over the cost of the skydive. HOW DO I FIND A SKYDIVING SCHOOL? We’ve got a couple of recommendations, or you can simply find the closest to you through the power of Google and contact them directly. We’ll give you a letter that you can show them too to explain about the campaign too. Exhilarating, mind blowing, terrifying…possibly the best thing you will ever do in your life, and all for a good cause! FLYING SOLO OR FIND A FRIEND… You’re bound to share the plane with other skydivers so you won’t be alone (and you’ll also be jumping with the instructor unless you’re already a pro) but if you’d like to join up with other wildlife jumpers then feel free to rope in friend – the more the merrier! There’s bound to be other supporters who might appreciate the company too so let us know that you’re interested in finding a buddy or another group and we can put you in touch with other people who might be nearby. We already have a group of volunteers from the UK who are going to meet in Swansea, Wales, and another in Holland who plan to do it together. HOW CAN I GO ABOUT FUNDRAISING? You can either use sponsorship forms that we can send you, set up your own ‘just giving’ page or direct your sponsors to our own page which we will set up shortly. You can target family and friends or even local companies who might want to support the cause. If you need us to put their logo on the website next to your name then no problem. HOW ABOUT WORLD FAME? We’d like to put all the names of skydivers on the website and our page, with any pictures/videos you can give us to help inspire other jumpers around the world. If you’re also prepared to put yourself in the spotlight for a good cause then perhaps your local paper would be interested in hearing from you and we can send you information about the campaign to share with them. This is a really useful way of getting people to hear all about the Wildlife Centre and the wonderful people who support us around the world. But of course if you would like to keep your anonymity and just jump in private then please let us know. NOT SURE YOU WANT TO JUMP? You can still help! Tell your friends about it or sponsor one of the jumpers (we’ll put all their names and links to their fundraising pages online, with their permission) which will also included one of our carers who will be representing the team. Please fill in the application form below as far as you can and send it back to us. Don’t worry if you can’t fill it all in, we’d just like to know who is up for it and where. Then we can get the ball rolling and send you all the other relevant documents (sponsorship forms, information pack, t shirt etc). You can also go to http://www.lilongwewildlife.org/ to find out more about the release and watch the video on Buddy’s troop. Or if you have any questions then please email Kate - [email protected]. THANKS AND LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!
