A few weeks ago I saw a video about “bringing back hanging up the phone.” She made a little holder so she could physically hang her phone up like we used to as kids.
I thought it was genius. Couldn’t find one anywhere, so I made my own. Bought air-dry clay, watched a couple videos… and accidentally found a new hobby. I made little envelope mailboxes for outside my kids’ rooms, and next I’m making a tiny vase for my daughter’s flowers to hang on her wall. 🌷
And it got me thinking…
What a sad life we’d live if everything had to be practical to be worth it!?
If that were true, we’d stop giving birthday cards because they get thrown out. We’d stop buying flowers because they die. We’d stop baking cookies with our kids because they’re gone in a day (and not even by the kids, my hubby is a Cookie Monster 🍪). We’d stop decorating our homes just because it feels good. Could you imagine??
And apparently, we’d stop sending beautiful wedding invitations too.
Because “people will just throw them out.”
But that’s kind of the point…
Not everything is meant to last forever. Some things are meant to create a feeling… make someone pause. To build excitement. To set the tone for something bigger. ✈️
That feeling is what people remember.
And I don’t think that’s a waste at all. 🩵
