Malaysia experienced a slight dip in financial well-being in Q4 2025, from 143 points to 138 points, which represents a 3.5% decline. Despite the dip, Malaysians' confidence in making major purchases remains steady, scoring 119 points compared to 118 points in Q3 2025.

This steady growth could be attributed to the known Double Day sales in the e-commerce market, and it’s a holiday season in the last month of the quarter. During that quarter, all the major e-commerce brands ran their biggest campaign to lure consumers to spend, such as TikTok Shop holding a massive LIVE Showdown.

Looking ahead, Q1 2026 is expected to maintain this steady trajectory as there are a few major festivals happening soon, such as the Chinese New Year and the start of Ramadan.

Stay tuned for our upcoming Q1 2026 Malaysians’ Consumer Index. Meanwhile, let revisit the Q4 2025 report here: https://www.oppotus.com/q42025-update-consumer-confidence-maintains-steady-trajectory/

Malaysian consumer confidence remained steady in Q4 2025, with the Oppotus Malaysian Consumer Confidence Index (MYCI) holding a stable score of 135 points.

This resilience was likely bolstered by several key year-end events. The Budget 2026 announcement provided a significant confidence boost through targeted social welfare measures and cost-of-living aids. Notably, eligible recipients under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) program are set to receive up to RM100 per month (RM1,200 per year) to assist with essential household expenses.

On the global stage, Malaysia’s successful hosting of the 47th ASEAN Summit in October 2025 further enhanced national sentiment. The presence of influential global leaders—including high-level delegations from China and the United States—reaffirmed Malaysia's pivotal role in regional diplomacy.

These milestones, combined with robust domestic demand, have directly impacted our economic trajectory. According to advance estimates from DOSM, Malaysia’s GDP is projected to have grown by 5.7% in Q4 2025, accelerating from the 5.2% recorded in the previous quarter.

The Malaysian cryptocurrency landscape reached a definitive milestone in 2025, characterised by a transition from speculative interest to sustained market participation. Analysis indicates that consumer involvement remained consistently above the 50% threshold throughout the year, culminating in a record ownership peak of 66% during the third quarter. This trajectory highlights a significant shift in the local financial landscape as digital assets increasingly integrate into mainstream investment portfolios alongside traditional assets.

This record-level adoption is supported by a broader environment of digital engagement, where cryptocurrency has made a distinct mark despite market fluctuations earlier in the year. The data reveals that ownership remained steady and consistently high, reflecting deep consumer engagement within the digital asset space.
