The new 2026 Ford Ranger model range is launched in Malaysia with four updated variants:
- Ranger XL: RM 127,888
- Ranger Sport 2.0L: RM 145,888
- Ranger Sport 3.0L V6: RM 159,888
- Ranger Platinum: RM 205,888

All variants now come with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel powerplants only receive a single turbocharger.

The Malaysian government is developing a fairer formula to calculate the Open Market Value (OMV) for locally assembled (CKD) vehicles.

Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) President Mohd Shamsor Mohd Nor confirmed that the current formula under Customs Order PU(A) 402/2019 and the New Customised Incentive Mechanism (NCM) remain on hold until the end of the year.

This gives officials time to work directly with car manufacturers, streamline tax structures, and refine the evaluation methods to ensure all automakers are treated on a level playing field.

To protect car buyers and the industry, the government has promised that the finalized formula will have little to no impact on vehicle prices. Manufacturers will also be given a proper grace period to adjust to the changes.

Following discussions with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the automotive sector was granted an extra 6-month transition period for the NCM rollout to keep the market stable.
