🚨 Cyberbullying, doxxing & stalking are no longer “just online drama” in Malaysia, they are now criminal offences. 🚨
Malaysia has strengthened its laws under Act 574 to better protect victims of digital abuse. In our latest video, “The Anatomy of Digital Abuse: Decoding Malaysia’s New Penal Code”, we break down the latest amendments in a simple and practical way so you can better understand your rights and stay protected online.
Here’s what you need to know about Sections 507A to 507G of the Penal Code:
🔍 Stalking (Section 507A)
Repeated harassment, tracking, monitoring, or unwanted communication that causes fear, distress, or concern for personal safety is now a criminal offence.
⚠️ Threats, Harassment & Cyberbullying (Sections 507B, 507C & 507D)
Using threatening, abusive, or insulting language online to cause emotional distress — including encouraging self-harm or su***de — can lead to serious legal consequences.
🔒 Doxxing & Non-Consensual Sharing (Sections 507E & 507F)
Publishing someone’s personal information, identity details, or intimate images without consent, especially with intent to intimidate, threaten, or facilitate harm, is now explicitly illegal.
🧠 Stronger Legal Protection (Section 507G)
The law now formally recognises psychological and emotional harm, including damage to a person’s mental wellbeing, reputation, body, or property.
Digital abuse should never be normalised.
Understanding the law is the first step toward creating a safer and more responsible digital environment for everyone.
