5 ways to never get scammed online
1. Never Send Money or Personal Info to Strangers
If someone you don’t know asks for:
Money
Bank details
Verification codes
Passwords
it’s almost always a scam.
Rule: If you didn’t initiate it, don’t trust it.
2. Check Before You Click
Scammers use fake links to steal information.
Always check:
Website spelling (e.g., “paypaI.com” vs “paypal.com”)
If the site starts with HTTPS
If the message pressures you to act quickly (a red flag)
3. Use Official Apps and Verified Accounts
Only download apps from the official App Store/Play Store.
When dealing with companies, use their verified websites or accounts, not links sent through random messages or DMs.
4. Avoid “Too Good to Be True” Offers
Be suspicious of:
Free money
Guaranteed investment returns
Deals that seem unbelievably cheap
People offering jobs that require upfront payment
If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
5. Turn On Security Features
Protect yourself with:
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
Strong, unique passwords
A password manager
Phone lock (PIN, fingerprint, face unlock)
This reduces the chance of your accounts being hacked.
