World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛
Theme: Together Against Loneliness

Loneliness is not just about being alone, it is about being excluded.

For many persons with Down syndrome, loneliness is created by barriers: limited inclusion in schools, workplaces, social spaces, and even within communities that should embrace them.

Inclusion is the solution.

When we choose to:
✅ Include, not isolate
✅ Listen, not assume
✅ Support, not pity

We create a Nigeria where everyone belongs.

Let’s move beyond awareness to intentional connection.
No one should feel invisible.

Together, we can end loneliness.

International Women’s Day 2026

Theme: “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women across the world—especially women and girls with disabilities whose voices, talents, and contributions continue to shape our communities despite persistent barriers.

For many women with disabilities, the struggle for equality is not only about gender—it is also about access, dignity, visibility, and justice. Too often they face exclusion in education, employment, healthcare, leadership, and digital spaces. Yet every day, they continue to rise, advocate, innovate, and lead change.

International Women’s Day reminds us that inclusion is not optional—it is essential. True progress happens when women with disabilities are not merely invited into spaces, but are recognized as leaders, decision-makers, and agents of transformation.

Today, we reaffirm a simple but powerful commitment:
Rights must be accessible to all women and girls, including those with disabilities.
Justice must address the intersecting barriers of gender and disability.
Action must ensure that no woman or girl is left behind.
When women with disabilities thrive, communities become stronger, policies become fairer, and societies become more inclusive.

Let us celebrate their courage, amplify their voices, and work collectively to build a world where every woman and girl can participate fully, equally, and with dignity.

Happy International Women’s Day.

My Story, My Why

Meet Kelsey

Hi, I’m Chukwunyere Kelsey Nwosu — a, disability rights and digital inclusion advocate, amputee, and youth leader.

⚽ At 11 years old, all I wanted to do was play football with my friends. That day, it started as just another game—but ended up changing my life forever.
A fight broke out between me and my teammate on the field, and in the heat of the moment, I fed him with sand.

We were separated and the game ended few minutes later. As I was walking out of the field, he retaliated. He grabbed my legs from behind while I was in motion, and I fell badly, he fed me with sand and ran away. That was the moment my left arm fractured.

My family took me to a local bonesetter, who we thought could heal me. But what we didn’t know was that his treatment would cost me my hand. The mismanaged fracture turned to gangrene. That was how, at just 11, I lost my left hand. 💔

But this wasn’t the end of my story—it was the beginning of a new one.

Sometimes life changes in a moment. One mistake, one fall, one setback can feel like the end. But it can also be the turning point to a new path.

This was the painful start of my journey to resilience, service, and purpose. And I’ll be sharing more of my story here, one chapter at a time.

I lost my left hand, but I didn’t lose my purpose. Today, I’m using my story to advocate for a Nigeria where no youth with disability is left behind.

On the 14th and 15th October, I represented at the National Multi-Stakeholder Public Dialogue on Institutionalizing TVET and Apprenticeship Systems for Sustainable Employment and Employability in Nigeria, organized by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in collaboration with the ILO and GIZ.

As the only person with a disability in the room, I was bold to lend my voice to the conversation — emphasizing the need for full inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the designing, implementation, and monitoring of TVET and apprenticeship programs.

True inclusion means more than access — it means representation at every stage of policy and practice. If skills development must serve everyone, then PWDs must not only be trained but also be part of the systems that shape and evaluate those trainings.

My advocacy for inclusive skills and employment systems is not just about participation, but about power, visibility, and equal opportunity.

We can build a Nigeria where no one is left behind — not in classrooms, not in workplaces, and not in the future of work.

World Mental Health Day 2025 💚🌍
Theme: "Mental Health is a Universal Human Right"

Today, we stand in solidarity with millions across the globe to reaffirm that mental health matters for everyone, everywhere.

For many Persons with Disabilities, mental health challenges are often overlooked, misunderstood, or ignored.
Beyond physical or sensory barriers, they face daily struggles with stigma, exclusion, discrimination, and lack of support — all of which can take a deep emotional toll.

Persons with Disabilities deserves the right to feel seen, valued, and supported — because mental health is a universal human right. 🌍

At Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI), we believe that true inclusion means creating environments where every person—especially those with disabilities—can thrive emotionally, mentally, and socially.

💬 HAPI’s Advice:
✅ Create safe spaces for open conversations about emotions and mental wellbeing.
✅ Offer empathy, not pity — inclusion begins with understanding.
✅ Advocate for accessible mental health services for all, including PWDs.
✅ Remember: asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Let’s work together to make inclusion not just physical — but emotional, mental, and holistic.

Yesterday was a fulfilling day for me and served as a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do.

Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI) in partnership with FOS Feminista, hosted a one-day capacity building for caregivers and parents on their role in supporting the menstrual health of women and girls with disabilities here in Benue State.

It was interactive, honest, and empowering — because when caregivers are informed, girls disabilities are supported to live with dignity, confidence, and pride.

I watched parents and caregivers lean in, share their experiences, and commit to supporting the menstrual health of women and girls with disabilities.

As a HAPI team member and someone passionate about disability inclusion, I felt proud to witness this shift — where caregivers are not just providers, but allies in dignity, health, and empowerment.

This reaffirmed my belief that when we empower caregivers with the right knowledge, we create a ripple effect that ensures no woman or girl with a disability is left behind because of her period.

I left the room inspired, knowing that little by little, we are breaking the silence, ending the stigma, and building an inclusive future where no girl is left behind simply because of her period.

Grateful. Inspired. Connected.

Being part of the August Cohort of the Climate Justice Fellowship was such an insightful and impactful journey. We were equipped with knowledge and practical skills on climate change, climate justice, advocacy, storytelling and sustainability — lessons that will stay with me for life.

But beyond the training, the real gift was the wonderful people I met in my cohort. Each person brought their unique perspective, passion, and energy, making the learning experience even richer and unforgettable.

A big thank you to Nigeria for investing in young people and creating this platform where we can learn, connect, and become champions for Inclusive climate justice.

On June 19th, 2025, in Abuja, Jobberman Nigeria , in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, hosted the 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐬 (TEIMC) Roundtable—a bold and timely initiative aimed at transforming access to digital work for those who are often left behind.

I had the honour of representing my team alongside my colleague Adebayo Idowu Omeiza of Hope Alive For Possibilities Initiative - HAPI at this critical event, where voices from diverse sectors came together to push for inclusive change.

The discussions were honest, evidence-based, and centered around one goal: expanding equitable access to digital employment—particularly for women in underserved communities, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

A key highlight of the roundtable was the official launch of a groundbreaking research report titled:
"Technology and Employment Inclusion in Marginalised Contexts."

The report uncovered important insights:

🔹 Only 4.17% of employers use jobtech platforms to recruit from marginalised groups, while 71% still rely on referrals.
🔹 25% of unemployed women without formal education live in urban centers, not just rural areas.
🔹 Among PWDs, 33% are most interested in tech-enabled careers, followed by agriculture (37%) and the creative industry (22%).
🔹 A significant 53% of IDPs are self-employed, leveraging mobile phones to run and grow their businesses.

These statistics are more than numbers—they’re a clarion call for action.

The roundtable closed with a strong message: translate this data into policies, partnerships, and practical programs that will open real pathways to dignified, well-paying digital work—for everyone, regardless of background or ability.

𝐖𝐞 are proud to be part of this movement. Together, we are committed to shaping a more inclusive digital workforce.

Disability Inclusion is the Way Forward in Benue State.

I had the honour of facilitating two impactful sessions during the Stakeholder Engagement and Strategic Training for Grassroots Women & Youths with Disabilities organized by Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative on the 13th and 14th of this month in Oju, Benue State.

🎤 Session 1: Self-Confidence as a Tool to Overcome Challenges as a Person with Disability.

🧠 We explored how building inner strength and self-belief can empower persons with disabilities to rise above societal stigma and push past limitations.

📱 Session 2: Social Media Advocacy
Participants learned how to harness the power of digital platforms to raise their voices, share their stories, and advocate for inclusion and disability rights.

Seeing the passion, resilience, and energy of the participants—especially women and youths with disabilities—was inspiring. 🙌🏾

🙏🏾 A heartfelt thank you to HAPI for trusting me with this opportunity to contribute. Together, we’re building a more inclusive and empowered grassroots community.
