On August 25, 2026, our President/CEO facilitatiled a session at the just-concluded 2-Day capacity building training workshop for staff of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC Nigeria at the commissions headquarters, Abuja .
His session was on the subject, “Advanced News Writing, Media Engagement & Practical Newsroom Simulation,” was intentionally designed for staff in the Media & Public Communications Department, with a strong focus on moving beyond theory into practical newsroom competence.
He explored investigative reporting, crisis communication, media relations, press conference management, interview skills, fact verification, digital news writing and headline development. This was followed by practical newsroom simulations where participants interviewed stakeholders, gathered and verified information, wrote professional news stories and developed press releases under simulated newsroom conditions.
The professionalism, enthusiasm and willingness of the participants to learn, test their skills, challenge assumptions and think critically about the responsibility that comes with communicating on behalf of a critical public institution topnotch.
The central message was that, in public communication, credibility is built one fact, one story, one interview and one media engagement at a time.
The ICPC Head of Training, Hajiya Hauwa Madu who took time to actively participated to the end togethere with Mr. John Okor Odey, ANIPR, Head, Media & Public Communications also took part to share knowledge, experience and contribute to this important capacity-building initiative.
