NATIONAL ORIENTATION AGENCY KADUNA STATE, RECEIVES THE DELEGATION OF KADUNA STATE CLIMATE CHANGE MECHANISM ON ACCOUNTABILITY (KADCCAM) ON COURTESY VISIT
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Kaduna State has expresses it's readiness to partner with organizations committed to environmental protection to combat climate change effects and promoting sustainable growth. This was stated by the Kaduna State Director, Mr. Danjuma Makama, during a courtesy visit by the Kaduna State Climate Change Accountability Mechanism (KADCCAM).
Danjuma Makama also explained that, NOA has the sole mandate of enlightening citizens on government programmes, activities and policies, as well as collecting feedback from the public, which can help shape government policies, programmes and activities for the benefit of all citizens. He added that, NOA in Kaduna State has a department specified for Environment , Climate and Energy that handles issues relating to climate and environmental challenges.
On that note, Makama described the visit as timely, considering the increasing extreme weather events, such as excessive heat and fluctuating temperatures, among others. He stressed that, NOA is open to collaboration with KADCCAM to ensure a safer environment for residents of the state and the country at large.
On his part, the Co-Chairman of KADCCAM, Mr. Ibrahim Yakubu, said, the visit sought partnership with NOA for awareness creation and grassroots information dissemination on climate change impacts and environmental degradation, desertification and flooding.
He added that, climate change is no longer a distant reality, as its effects the environmental degradation, desertification and flooding which are triggering chain reactions that affect all aspects of human life.
He said, partnership with NOA would provide a strong platform to effectively communicate the impacts of climate change to citizens in the state and the country at large.
