For your attention sir The Senate President - Nigeria
Subject: Urgent Appeal for Fair Compensation for Disengaged First Bank Contract Staff
Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru,
I am writing to you on behalf of myself and my colleagues who have been long-serving contract staff of First Bank of Nigeria, recruited between 13 to 15 years ago. We are reaching out in urgent appeal for your intervention regarding our recent disengagement and the compensation provided.
Over the years:
1. Long-term Service Without Advancement – We were recruited as contract staff and have dedicated over a decade of service to the bank, yet we have not received any formal promotions, allowances, or benefits that reflect our years of commitment and contribution.
2. Unfair Hierarchical Displacement – More recently, younger staff, some with fewer years of experience and below our age, have been employed into supervisory positions over us, creating an inequitable and demoralizing work environment.
3. Recent Disengagement – On 06 March 2026, we were disengaged from the bank with a severance package of only ₦750,000. Given the current economic situation, this sum is insufficient to support a transition or help us start afresh, particularly as we are no longer at an easily employable age.
We appeal to your esteemed office to assist in:
• Ensuring a revised and fair compensation package that reflects our years of service, experience, and loyalty.
• Advocating for recognition of our contribution and support to help us rebuild our lives and livelihood.
We place our hope in your office to consider this matter urgently, as the welfare of experienced workers like us is crucial to maintaining fairness and morale in Nigeria’s workforce.
Thank you very much for your attention to this urgent appeal. We are willing to provide any further details or documentation you may require to support our case.
