FG Introduces 30-Day Petrol Discount Through NNPC, Targets Relief for Nigerians

The Federal Government has announced a 30-day petrol discount through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), prioritising public transport operators as part of fresh measures to ease the impact of high fuel prices on Nigerians. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, announced the initiative on Thursday in Abuja, explaining that the arrangement would allow NNPC to sell petrol at cost by foregoing its retail profit margin.

President Bola Tinubu has declared three days of national mourning following the tragic military aircraft crash in Ondo State.

The President ordered flags to fly at half-mast nationwide and directed a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.

He expressed condolences to the families of the 25 passengers and seven crew members affected, as well as the Nigerian Air Force.
