“When Passion No Get Brake – The Danbaba Suntai Story”
Once upon a time for Taraba State, dem get one governor wey sabi book, sabi politics — and surprisingly, sabi fly plane. His name? Danbaba Suntai.
This man no be ordinary governor. Apart from governing the people, baba get passion for the skies. Yes o, the man dey learn how to fly plane. Not because dem force am, but because the thing dey sweet him. E be like say he dey see himself as the next Captain Dan.
But wahala dey when passion no get brake.
One fine October day for 2012, Governor Danbaba enter cockpit. No co-pilot, no experienced hand, just vibes and a Cessna 208 aircraft. The control tower shock. His team fear. But who go tell oga say “no fly”? You wan chop query?
Long story short — plane crash. Not in Europe or America o, right here for Yola, Nigeria. The impact no small. The governor survive, but serious injury follow. From Nigeria hospital to Germany to America, e waka plenty to recover.
Back home, the state dey confused. Who go lead? Him still be governor, but him brain and body no dey as before. Politics scatter. Deputy governor turn acting. Some people dey argue say make dem remove am, others dey shout “loyalty!”
But inside all this saga, one lesson loud and clear:
“Passion na good thing, but e need training, discipline and boundaries. If not, e fit crash you.”
Danbaba get passion, but e jump process. No full license, no co-pilot, just raw ambition. And na that ambition cause gbege.
Moral of the Story:
Passion without preparation = Problem.
If you be leader, surround yourself with people wey fit correct you — not just people wey dey hail you.
Always respect process. Shortcut fit cut your shot.
