Design Better Error Messages

Your error message should help, not frustrate.

We've all seen messages like:

"Something went wrong."

But what went wrong?

Users need to know what happened and how to fix it.

A good error message should clearly communicate:

What happened: Your password is incorrect.

How to fix it: Check your password and try again.

What to do next: Forgot your password? Reset it here.

Avoid technical language that users may not understand.

Design tip: Don't just tell users that something failed. Tell them how to recover from it.

Good UX often goes unnoticed.

When users complete a task without thinking about how they did it, that's great user experience.

The best designs feel natural because they remove friction, not because they show off.

Design Tip: If users have to think too hard, it's time to simplify.

What's one app you love because it's so easy to use?

Design for Empty States
What happens when there is nothing to show?

Empty states are often overlooked, but they are an important part of UX design.

Instead of leaving users with a blank screen, use the space to explain what is happening and guide them on what to do next.

For example, instead of showing:

"No projects."

Try:

"You don't have any projects yet. Create your first project to get started."

A good empty state should:

• Explain why the space is empty
• Tell users what they can do next
• Provide a clear call to action
• Reduce confusion

Design tip: Never let an empty screen feel like a dead end. Use it as an opportunity to guide your users.
