I was studying the book of Psalms when I stumbled on this scripture that just struck my heart.
Psalm 6:1 – “O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.”
The moment I saw it, my heart skipped a beat. Before I knew it, I started praying, “God abeg, no ever vex for me ooo — I go just collapse! I no get power ooo 😂😂😂”
Honestly, I don’t feel comfortable when someone I care about is angry with me — consciously or unconsciously. I lose my peace. If I apologize and things still don’t balance, I just give space, because I don’t want to hurt you or get hurt. I’ll just be praying for you from afar.
So imagine if my very existence dey vex with me. Ahhh… what will I do?!
I even read other translations just to calm my mind. The FBV says:
“Lord, please don't condemn me because you're angry with me; please don't punish me because you're angry with me!”
In all of this, I want to remind someone: the Bible is not as complex as we think. It’s super simple and practical. Like, your everyday life is inside the Bible!
Some see it as just a storybook — but this same Bible has been liberating lives before we were born.
Oya let’s talk — Have you ever felt like you were overthinking a scripture, but that same verse ended up changing your life?
