Ụmụ Akpoha, Unu ka!

The month of July holds a special place in the history of Akpoha. It marks the sacred moment when our son, Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Origbo, was ordained as the third indigenous priest of our land. This year, on the 24th of July, he will joyfully celebrate his 25th anniversary in the priesthood, his Silver Jubilee, at St. John’s Parish, Akpoha.

On the directive of the Chairman of the Silver Jubilee Committee, Chief Ichie William Obasi, I am pleased to inform the youths of Akpoha Autonomous Community and Amata Akpoha Autonomous Community that a football match will be held as part of the celebration. This exciting event will feature the youths of both communities alongside Catholic priests from the Abakaliki Diocese.

The match is scheduled to take place on the 23rd of July 2026 at the Akpo Tech Field by 4:00 PM.

May we all⁩ remain blessed as we come together in unity and joy to celebrate our priest and this remarkable milestone.

It was reported that Sunny Uma Okwara beat his mother, his father, and his wife (three times). Following this, the women of Amaekpu Ohafia gave him strokes in line with community custom and some other fines for his actions and measures to prevent him from repeating such act again.
