It is only an irresponsible father who will see two children fighting in the street and refuse to separate them. Everything that happens in Nigeria will affect all of us one way or the other. Little issues snowball into big catastrophes. ⚠️
If elders refuse to play leadership roles, youths will take over — and it does not always blow a good wind.
It was a young man in Tunisia who set himself ablaze after a local government official threw away the vegetables he was selling. That singular act triggered the Arab Spring. Some countries have still not recovered, especially Libya. History teaches us that small sparks can burn down nations. 🔥
Now, about the ongoing social media war involving King Michy and VeryDarkMan (VDM).
I did not know King Michy before now. Without provocation, she dragged VDM and his NGO. I have a younger brother who always asks me why I talk about VDM and why I support him. He is the age mate of my last child. But he has done tangible things at his age that many in my generation did not do.
If people in my generation had stood up the way some of these young advocates are doing today, Nigeria would not be in this state. Silence is consent.
Let me state this clearly to young people:
Popularity is different from fame.
Fame is being known for something tangible.
Popularity is just being seen.
Displaying the house you bought, the car you bought, trips overseas — without being known for something meaningful — is seeking validation without responsibility.
Popularity is also different from influence.
Influence is when you can move people to take action — even at a cost to themselves — for the betterment of society. VDM has mobilised young people to clean cities. That is influence.
Stupidity is not lack of intelligence. It is acting in a way that causes damage without benefiting from it. Many people on social media act without thinking. They wake up and stir a sleeping beehive. 🐝
As a pastor, I don’t go around looking for demons to cast out. Leave them where they are. Don’t wake trouble you cannot handle.
Learn to select your fights. It is not cowardice. It is wisdom. 🎯
There is a video online where King Michy’s mother allegedly warned her about attacking VDM, saying he is doing good things. Yet she proceeded. If your mother warns you and you ignore it, what do you expect?
Stop displaying wealth without wisdom. Wealth without discretion can destroy you. If you make noise about money without substance, you can attract unnecessary investigations and trouble.
This generation will question everything. They will investigate everything — including men of God, celebrities, politicians. Nobody is above scrutiny anymore.
If you mention the name of powerful people carelessly, you can implicate them and yourself. Even if someone gave you money, must you announce it publicly? Don’t you have common sense?
Empty vessels make the loudest noise. Throw an empty milk tin on concrete — it will make noise. Throw one with content — it lands quietly.
Social media is full of noise because many people are fascinated by noise. But facts compress noise very quickly. One solid fact can silence 50 intelligent professors — but 50 facts cannot silence one determined fool.
I want to appeal to VDM: please hold fire. Let us not escalate issues unnecessarily. Let us not push anyone into harmful actions.
And to those being dragged into this matter — be wise. You may not have started the fight, but if you enter the trenches, you may have more to lose. Especially in a political season. Be careful of sycophants around you. Many follow because of privilege and power. If that privilege disappears tomorrow, they will disappear too. Don't listen to sycophants who will push you to do evil. You have a lot ahead of you beyond 2027, beyond APC and Nigerian presidency.
Young people, don’t let ego destroy your future. Don’t use your head to break coconut for someone else. 🥥
Religion, politics, influence — all require wisdom and restraint.
A word is enough for the wise.
